Pool Service Software Compared: What Actually Matters in 2026
Most pool service software reviews are written by the companies selling the software. This one isn't. We have no affiliate deals and no brand sponsorships — we run pools for a living and we use these tools every day.
Here's what we evaluated:
- Jobber — best general field service fit
- ServiceTitan — enterprise play, overkill for most
- Pool Brain — pool-specific, strong chemical tracking
- Skimmer — pool-native, newer to market
- Housecall Pro — solid SMB contender
- Loadless AI OS — newer AI-native platform for pool
- Paper route sheets — the baseline that still runs 40% of the industry
The only metric that matters: cost per tech per month
Every platform charges differently. Some charge per tech, some per customer, some flat monthly. Converted to cost per tech per month:
| Platform | $/tech/mo | Setup time | Chemical tracking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber | $35-69 | 1 week | No |
| ServiceTitan | $200-350 | 6+ weeks | No |
| Pool Brain | $50-80 | 2 weeks | Yes, strong |
| Skimmer | $30-60 | 1 week | Yes, good |
| Housecall Pro | $49-169 | 1 week | No |
| Loadless AI OS | $149-499 flat | 2 weeks | Yes, LSI calculator |
| Paper | $0 | None | Notebooks |
Route density: the hidden cost nobody talks about
Every platform shows you revenue per stop. Almost none show you route density — how far apart your stops actually are. A $65 stop three doors away is worth more than a $95 stop across town. Your tech spends 20 minutes driving instead of 5. That's 15 minutes of lost production per stop, 5 stops a day, 5 days a week. That's 18.75 hours per tech per month of pure windshield time.
Pool Brain and Skimmer handle route density natively. Jobber and Housecall Pro can be configured with some manual work. Loadless AI OS has it built in as a core metric. ServiceTitan's route optimization is enterprise-grade but needs a dedicated ops person to manage it.
Chemical tracking: where pool tools actually differ
Generic field service tools treat chemical readings as generic line items. Purpose-built pool tools track pH, chlorine, CYA, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and calculate LSI (Langelier Saturation Index) so you can spot scaling or corrosion before the plaster does.
Pool Brain and Loadless AI OS both calculate LSI natively. Skimmer tracks chemicals but the math is manual. Everything else treats it as free-text notes.
Our honest take
If you're under 3 techs and mostly residential weekly service: Skimmer or Loadless AI OS. Pool Brain if chemicals are your differentiator.
If you're 5+ techs with commercial accounts: ServiceTitan if you want enterprise, Loadless AI OS if you want AI-native without the bloat.
If you're still on paper: Any of them. The switch pays for itself in the first month of route density alone.
Disclosure: We have no affiliate relationships with any platform listed above. We run pools. We use software. This is what we actually think.
